MAP Calculator
Enter a blood pressure to calculate mean arterial pressure and pulse pressure.
Enter both pressures to calculate MAP.
Why MAP matters
MAP estimates the average pressure driving organ perfusion across the cardiac cycle. Because the heart spends roughly twice as long in diastole as systole, diastolic pressure is weighted double in the formula.
Arterial lines display a measured MAP that may differ slightly from the calculated value — trend whichever source your unit treats as primary.
Educational use only. MAP targets are individualized by provider order; titration and escalation decisions follow your facility’s protocols. This material supports nursing education and exam review. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for clinical judgment, institutional policy, or medical direction. Always follow facility protocols and current provider orders.
